xp_emegencyutil.exe creates alternate copies which viruses will not able to intercept.

To use: Download the xp_emergencyutil.zip file and save it to your hard drive. Double-click the xp_emergencyutil.zip file and extract xp_emergencyutil.exe to your hard disk. 2) ShutdownXP Enforcer

Shuts down your system in the twinkle of an eye. I use it in normal circumstances without problem when I have to rush but it is still advisable to use it when an application that refuses to close, a system freeze, etc..

Create keyboard shortcut keys just in case your mouse freeze too.

A very powerful tool to immediate Shutdown or Restart Windows 2000 and XP Operating Systems' based computers (the last chance before the Reset button).

Use it only if you have serious reasons not to follow the ordinary Shutdown/Restart procedure (i.e. an application that refuses to close, a system freeze, etc.).
It's a System Tray Application and uses a very small amount of resources when running.
It gives you the ability to create a Shutdown and a Restart shortcuts on your Desktop for the occasion of a System's Tray failure.

* Limitations: No limitations

HijackThis: A general homepage hijackers detector and remover. Initially based on the article Hijacked!, but expanded with a lot of other checks against hijacker tricks. It is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. It does not target specific programs/URLs, just the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites.
As a result, false positives are imminent, and unless you are sure what you're doing, you should always consult with knowledgable folks before deleting anything.

a) Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

b) When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log button.
c) Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents. Most
of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.
d)Then go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/ where you'll get expert help.
e)Just Sign in, or post as a guest, and go to the Spyware and
Hijackware Removal section. Press "new topic", explain your problem, and
copy and paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message.

9) Windows Worms Doors Cleaner v1.4.1
Little tool to disable DCOM, Locator, NetBIOS, UPNP, and MESSENGER
NOTE:
Most of the worms, in particular the most famous, use known vulnerabilities in Windows services which are enabled by default and that can't be disabled via the OS's configuration.
Even with these services patched with Microsoft security fixes, they are still exposed to the Internet at large ready to be exploited by the next exploit.

These ports/services are DCOM RPC (listen on port 135), RPC Locator (port 445), and eventually NetBIOS (ports 137/138/139) which cause obvious security risks. RPC Locator has first been patched (Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-001), but another exploit has followed (Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-007). These services are useless for personal home use, and can be disabled safely. Since NetBIOS is often used in home LANs, the following tool enables you (by default) to disable NetBIOS to automatically start, and to start it manually in command line (on demand). Of course, you can totally disable it too.
